Last week when I was changing Lo I noticed she had a little protrusion about 3/4 inch below her scar. I brought her to her pediatrician and he felt around her belly to see if he could feel a hernia. He said he couldn't feel any break in her muscle wall (he felt around for at least 10 minutes and had her all distorted) and it felt like scar tissue to him but he wanted to call Lo's cardiologist just to be sure.
Dr. Shuler was on vacation until this Monday so I get a phone call from Dr. Bonnett's office that Dr. Shuler wanted to see her yesterday.
Yesterday at 10:15 we went in to see Dr. Shuler. All he did was look at her belly and say "Its a ventral hernia". Apparently when the surgeons sewed her muscles back together after surgery it wasn't perfectly together and when she cries really hard or strains fluid gets through there and bubbles up under the skin. Dr. Shuler says he sees it all the time and its nothing to worry about since there isn't a break in the muscle wall. He also did an ECHO and everything looks good and is basically unchanged. He was very pleased at the way she looks and is growing! Whoo Hoo!
