Stellan

Stellan is a little guy I've been reading about who has SVT, his heart races at over 200 beats per minute. The drs are trying to break the rhythm but are having a hard time. Please read about him and his family (side bar to the right under Stellan). He and his family need our prayers!

Surgery

We have a date for Lorelei's surgery. She will be having it on Sept 9. We will have to be at MUSC on Sept 8 for pre-op stuff. John's parents are coming down to spend some time with Lo before she goes in to surgery too.

John and I want to clarify something too: It Is Open Heart Surgery! They will go in and cut out a piece of fibrous tissue that is not allowing her valve to fully open. It also may return but the PC at MUSC did say that it could potentially be her last surgery and let's pray for that! Plan B is still to do a valve replacement surgery called the Ross Procedure where they would take her pulmonary valve and put it where he aortic valve is and then do a total valve replacement of her pulmonary valve. However, right now Plan B is NOT what we are doing and we are thankful for that!

I will be updating about her surgery and about upcoming events with Palmetto Hearts ~ like the Gof Tournament that is coming up on August 31st and our baskets that we are calling BraveHeart Baskets! Please pray for us, Lorelei and all the families that are going through this at Palmetto Hearts and across the country!

Jan's Wedding

We had a great time at the wedding, Lorelei was tired but a trooper through it all!

Jaxson's Blankets for Babes

The story behind the picture at the top of the blog is explained if you look to the right and click on Jaxson's Blankets for Babes. It's an awesome ministry. Please read about it!

The ECHO

So Thursday we had a sedated ECHO done on Lorelei at MUSC. We drove down that morning and she was hungry and frustrated with being in her carseat so long that she cried so hard she threw up, at least we were almost to MUSC so we could change her. We got there and she was hilarious with having low blood sugar, she was trying to do somersaults on the bed in the room. She was given the Chloral Hydrate to put her to sleep and the ECHO was done in about 20 minutes, she slept for 3 hours!

Dr. Atz came and talked to us because Dr. Bradley (her surgeon) was MIA come to find out he was in an emergency surgery! He said that she does need another surgery because there is some fibrous tissue beneath her aortic valve that needs to be "carved" out. He said that Dr. Bradley would be able to measure her aortic valve when in surgery and they do think that it is growing, which is good because when they did her first surgery they weren't sure that it would.

We are now just waiting for MUSC to call us with a surgery date. I am anxiously waiting and will let everyone know when I know.

Our weekend adventure...

So we are off to MUSC this morning for Lorelei's sedated ECHO. We will get to talk to the surgeon about her options for surgery. Then we are going to be doing things for my sister, Jan's wedding, which is on Saturday. Then on Sunday we are going to the beach for a few days. This should be fun since it will just be me as John has to come back to go to work. I know he will miss seeing her first time on the beach but I promise to take lots of pics!

I am very excited too that I will get to see my other sister, Jeannette, and my nephew, Jack! He always tells me Nite Nite instead of Hi! He is too cute! I promise to post pics when I get back!

Have a great weekend!
